The January-February issue of 'Foreign Affairs' has an excellent article by Professor Alan Manning of the London School of Economics regarding the minimum wage. This article will satisfy neither Republican marketeers nor Democratic 'living wage' enthusiasts.
The author very satisfyingly debunks the Republican talking point that any increase in the minimum wage will trigger an automatic increase in unemployment.
I highly recommend this article.
