Hiatus

Sorry...haven't posted in awhile.  Just haven't been in the mood...  Most of the political stories have been depressing - and I haven't had much interesting to share in my personal life either.

It's now just Joan, Maddy and me at the ol' homestead.  Enrique and Nikki blew-out for Rhode Island on Sunday morning and they made it safe and sound.  Enrique is hoping for a part in a play at Perseverance this fall - and if he gets the part he will be more than welcome to stay here once again.

The weather has been depressing - the coldest spring I can recall and no indication that summer is going to be any better.  Having said that however, last weekend was beautiful beyond belief and downright hot.  On Saturday it crept mighty close to 90 degrees.  I spent a good part of the day working in the yard and got mighty hot.

As luck would have it, Joan had helped organize a little party at the house on Saturday evening for her newly retired ex-boss, Mr. Spencer.  It was a test-drive, of sorts, for the deck and I am happy to report that the venue was quite satisfactory.

A beauteous evening....

I've been under the weather the past few days.  Enrique had some kind of flu-like bug a few weeks ago and I seem to have all the same symptoms.  Must be a long incubation period for whatever it is...  Felt truly awful on Monday night, awful yesterday and feel just moderately crappy today.  Still, I expect I will survive.

I will do my best to be more diligent with posting...

Wet

Sorry...more than a week.  But it was a sorry-ass week and you haven't missed a thing.  Wet, cold, damp....and did I mention wet and cold...

The weatherman promised an 8-10 hour dry period today. His prediction was more-or-less accurate and I got three lawns dealt-with.  I'm tired.

And given the shitty weather I will have to fall back upon a couple of pics from last week's fishing expedition.

The pole did this alll day....nothing....

Captain Eric did everything right...

Cheers!

Busy Days

Well, it's been a busy week.  My pal, Adam, is in town 'til the 12th and I've been trying to keep him amused.  We went fishing out a Cowee Creek and got soaked (we drove through a hail storm on the way out the road).  There was rain, hail, and sun all within about an hour.  No fish - but we did see the ass end of a bear run across the road.  I tested my bear spray before we hit the trail...

Fishing at Cowee Creek

On Monday Eric took us fishing.  We were at the dock at 4 AM and on the grounds at Salisbury Point before 5 AM.  Unfortunately in this instance the early birds failed to catch the worm - or salmon or anything else.  But it was a beautiful day and we saw lots of eagles, whales and sea lions.  Lots of herring present but the King Salmon were few and far between.  We saw one boat with two keepers; but I suspect most were skunked like us.  Such it is...

In other news, I saw Amanda last evening and she is doing fine.  Working at the Crab Shack this summer - home of some very tasty crab bisque and other crabby things.  She looks great!

Enrique has finished his Perseverance Theater gig but is hanging-out for another month before his next job back East.  He is reading for a part in "Of Mice and Men" this week which will be the first production at Perseverance next fall.  Hope he gets it!

Finally, a shot from my deck a couple of weeks ago.  What a beautiful evening...

Later gang!
