Happy Birthday to Roy

I was honored to be invited to the elder Rickey's 89th birthday party yesterday.  Conceived as a semi-outdoor event - BBQ ribs and a fire pit.  It snowed off-and-on all day....  Still, I did manage a half-hour or so huddled around the fire.

Indeed it is snowing again this morning...although looking up now it appears to have turned to rain.  Came down pretty good for an hour or so though; there's about an inch of the white stuff on the deck at the moment.  Sigh...

Otherwise another sedate week for the most part.  Been doing lots of catch-up bookkeeping and today I will do my taxes as well as Linda's and mom's.

Mom had an injection again last week for the arthritis in her back.  Helped for a couple of days but yesterday she said it was not as good as the day before - so we'll see.  They won't be able to give her any more steroids for a few months so I expect that next week's appointment will involve a discussion of possible surgical procedures.  If she decides that back surgery is something she wants to do I hope she will consider going down below for the procedure.  I think her doc here is capable; but I am sure that he does not do nearly as many procedures as a specialist in Seattle or Portland - and it strikes me that this is an area where experience would count a great deal.  We'll see...

So, without further ado, a couple of pics from yesterday's event.  The Rickeys are a notoriously camera-shy lot - so this is all you get!
